GreenCamUz Second Training Program Continued with International Expert Sessions on Sustainable Education and Waste Management

The Second GreenCamUz Training Program continued on 7 July 2026 at Karabük University (Türkiye) with a series of expert presentations and experience-sharing sessions dedicated to sustainable education, curriculum development, and innovative waste management practices. The programme was organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ CBHE project “GreenCamUz – Green Campus Initiative: Integrating Sustainability into Higher Education in Uzbekistan.”

The second day opened with a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Kazım Yetik (Karabük University, Türkiye), who introduced participants to the university's Recycling and Waste Management Practices, highlighting institutional approaches to sustainable campus management.

The programme continued with a series of experience-sharing sessions on syllabus development and curriculum design. Prof. Dr. Iwona Kłosok-Bazan (Opole University of Technology, Poland), Assoc. Prof. Yurdanur Yumuk (Karabük University, Türkiye), Prof. Dr. Vytautas Bučinskas (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Lithuania), and Researcher Yusuf Deveci (Karabük University, Türkiye) presented best practices in curriculum development, covering topics such as eco-tourism, nature-based tourism, natural sciences in primary education, and extracurricular activities.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to sustainable waste management and environmental innovations. Prof. Dr. Faissal Aziz (Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco) delivered a lecture on sustainable waste management concepts, processing technologies, and recycling strategies. Dr. Lena Esterhuizen (Central University of Technology, South Africa) presented practical approaches to waste recycling strategies for sustainable campuses, while Assist. Prof. Salih Birhanu Ahmed (Karabük University, Türkiye) introduced an innovative project on developing biodegradable nanofibers from agricultural waste. The day concluded with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Faissal Aziz on the CYCLOLIVE project, highlighting its contribution to environmental toxicology diagnostics and waste recycling in the Mediterranean Basin.

The second day of the training programme provided participants with valuable international experience and practical knowledge that will contribute to strengthening sustainability-oriented education and green campus initiatives at higher education institutions in Uzbekistan.
